Analysis
Following the humongous success of the ‘Lord of Rings trilogy, when Peter Jackson thought of expanding the horizon through a trilogy on ‘The Hobbit,’ many analysts were skeptical. The multiple delays only strengthened their doubts further. However, with “The Hobbit: Battle of The Five Armies,” Peter Jackson has proved why he is a pro in this genre.
Visually, this film is a gem of its kind. The visual effects, as well as the production design, are top-notch. While the confluence of the characters may seem jarring to some, every character has its purpose. The skillful direction of Peter Jackson only adds to the charm of the film.
On the acting front, this film is more than just watchable. Martin Freeman has proved with his trilogy why he is a force to reckon with. Ian Holm as the older Bilbo and Ian McKellen as the iconic Gandalf only add to the acting brilliance of the franchise. Richard Armitage as Thorin packs a solid punch.
