Orlando Bloom

The English fame chosen as the ‘People Magazine's Sexiest Men Alive’ for 2007, Orlando Bloom was born on 13th of January 1977 in Canterbury, Kent. Orlando Jonathan Blanchard Bloom was believed to be the son of Sonia Constance Josephine who hails from Calcutta and Harry Saul Bloom, a Jewish South-African novelist. Later on, nine years after Harry Blooms death, it was revealed that Colin Stone who was Sonia’s partner as well as family friend, was Bloom’s biological father.

Stone, who was the principal at Concorde International Language School, became Orlando’s custodian afterward. Bloom’s mother, Sonia is the daughter of a Physician/Surgeon, Francis John Copeland and Betty Constance Josephine, relating Bloom to Sebastian Copeland, a photographer by profession. Bloom’s mothers family is known to have lived in Tasmania, India as well as Japan. Orlando Bloom whose name was inspired after Orlando Gibbons, the 16th-century composer, has a half-sister Samantha Bloom, the Pride and Prejudice actress, and two step-relations, Susan Storm Bloom, who is a photographer/Jewelry designer and the photographer Stephen Jack Bloom.

Being brought up in the Church of England, Bloom got to attend St. Peter’s Methodist Primary School. He later joined King’s School and then St. Edmund’s School for higher education. As Bloom was suffering from Dyslexia, he was made to focus more on arts and drama. At the age of 20-21, he professionalized photography, sculpture, and drama from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has completed an A-Level course in Drama, Photography and Sculpture from Fine Arts College, Hampstead following which he took up drama from the National Youth Theater. He has also attained a scholarship to the British American Drama Academy. At the age of 13, Bloom earned his first job as a clay tapper at the pigeon shooting range.

Orlando Bloom has many nicknames of which “Orli” and “OB” are most common. Even though his childhood dream of becoming a stuntman never got fulfilled, he is often seen in roles which are historical/fantasy based. He has also made archery a favorite sport in the UK. OB, who was declared the most Google searched male on 2006, is known to practice Buddhism. He has received umpteen number of awards including the MTV and Teen Choice Awards. On 2nd of April 2014, Orlando was given the 2,521st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His latest project for Disney ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ has been scheduled a release in May 2017.
