‘L2 : Empuraan’ Set To Rewrite History?

Looks like ‘Chhaava’ has finally met its match!

According to the recent media reports, ‘L2 : Empuraan’ is set to rewrite records. The Malayalam action thriller, which stars Mohanlal in the lead role of Abram Khureshi, aka Stephen Nedumpally, is set to open at a minimum of 20 crores.

Most cinephiles are going crazy over this movie, to the extent that even prominent sites like BookMyShow are finding it tough to keep up with the booking speed. The movie has secured an advance booking of at least 10 crores, which is literally giving tough competition to ‘Chhaava’, which secured an advance booking of at least 14 crores in the runup to its release date, i.e. 14 February.

Interestingly, Mohanlal also holds the record of the highest opening day for a Malayalam movie, when ‘Marakkar : Lion of the Arabian Sea’ released in December 2021, when the movie earned 20 crores. Unfortunately, the movie couldn’t sustain the momentum, and flopped at the box office, earning only a lifetime amount of 48 crores worldwide.
