How Mollywood Is Using AI The Right Way!

AI is growing by leaps and bounds, and who knows it better than the stakeholders of cinema!

Recently, the Malayalam movie ‘Rekhachitram’ has turned out to be a sleeper hit, both in the theaters as well as OTT. However, there’s a pleasant surprise as well. The film is being appreciated for its smart use of AI, something which was severely underutilized by the Tamil filmmakers last year. Despite the usage of AI, both ‘Indian 2’ and ‘GOAT : the Greatest of All Time’ turned out to be box office duds.

The movie showed a younger version of Mammootty, which was near perfect. However, not many know that this was smartly generated by AI, with negligible burden on the production. Imagine, getting some of the best special effects in a budget of less than 10 crores! Yet, Jofin T Chacko’s ‘Rekhachitram’ did it, and the result is for everyone to see.

Interestingly, another movie that used AI to enhance the quality was the sci-fi adventure ‘Gaganachari’.
