Plot
Velampalayam is located on the Tamilnadu-Kerala border. Udhayan and Kumar live in this town. Both are Kabaddi players. Udhayan runs a meat shop. They play for Panjami Riders. Once, they win over Porthamarai Bhairavan’s Kabaddi team and grab his eyeballs. Bhairavan wants them in his team to win more. So, he pays them heftily, and makes them his team’s main players. Bhairavan is a moneylender, who cheats people. What happens to Udhayan and Kumar after they join the Porthamarai team forms the rest of the story.
Star Performance
Shane Nigam is impressive with his performance. He is good at romance and emotional scenes. Shanthanu is good in his role. Preity and Alphonse Puthren did what was required of them. Poornima is okay in her role. Selvaraghavan fits well in the role and did justice to the provided character.
Analysis
Basically, the script is okay, but the execution slips in some places. Some characters, including Shanthanu and Poornima, are not written well. They lack depth, which is the main reason their performance falls short of the needed elevation. Alphonse’s role looks incomplete. The action choreography is good. The stunt sequences, along with the game, appeal well. The visuals are decent. The screenplay in the second half is stretched. The editor should’ve tried to make it crisper. Sai Abhyankkar’s music is good. He has given impressive songs and the BGM.
