1. Malgudi Days

Malgudi Days were based on the work by R.K. Narayan. There was only one season which contained 54 episodes in total. It used to air on Doordarshan first, and was later re-telecasted on Doordarshan and Sony. We all remember the stories about Swami and his friends. It was our ritual as a kid to wake up on holiday and watch Malgudi Days with our family. The story left with something to learn from, each time.

 

2. Tu Tu Main Main

Before we hated Indian television for its saas-bahu serials and got hooked up on Pakistani dramas, there was a time when the Indian television gave us some good comedy with this serial. It was a story about a mother and her daughter-in-law who were in each other’s way all the time with all the sweet khati-meethi bickering. It had 169 episodes in all and starred Reema Lagoo and Supriya Pilgaonkar. It was always a delight to watch these two arguing, planning and plotting.

 

3. Office Office

Oh! We all are familiar with how government offices work and this serial portrayed the same in a fun way. It was about a man Mussadilal, ( Pankaj Kapur) and how harshly he is treated in the office. He had to go through a long procedure involving bribery and corruption before he could have gotten his work done. Nevertheless, we all enjoyed and laughed at his misery.

 

4. Vikram Betal

Admit it we all got a little scared on seeing Betal climbing the shoulders of King Vikram. This series was based on BetalPacchisi.Betal used to tell King Vikram stories and at the end Vikram had to tell him the moral of the story or die. Every time the king understood the moral, Betal went back to his tree and set him free. Not only the king but we too were inspired and learnt something new every time.

5. Chacha Chaudhary

Chacha Chaudhary is an adaptation from the comics, namely, Chacha Chaudhary, created by Pran. We all remember his brain which worked faster than a computer. He was a lovable member of the town and everyone came rushing to him if they had any problem or wanted justice. His assistant, Saboo, was a tall and strong man, and people wondered if he came from Jupiter. This sitcom catered to all kind of audience, Children and old alike.

 

6. Miley Jab Hum Tum

MJHT was a very refreshing sitcom for the adolescents. It was about two sisters, Nupur and Gunjan, who came from a small town called Morena ad wanted to study at a college in Mumbai. There they fell in love with the college’s most talented and admired boys, Mayank and Samrat. And how after all the hustle and bustle they ended up together. The supporting actors also had a good play and were appreciated. For all the fans out there, it will be a pleasure to know that all the four main leads are still friends in real life.

7. Just Mohabbat

The story revolved around a boy, Jai, who used to live in a hostel, away from his parents. The series focused on his growing up years and about the kind of relationship he developed with his family and friends. He also had an imaginary friend, Gautam, whom we all remember well.

8. Kitani Mohabbat Hai Season 1

This series had 2 seasons and revolved around the main characters Arjun ( Karan Kundra) and Aarohi ( Kritika Kamra). Both seasons had a different storyline. In season 1, Aarohi aspires to become a singer and on her way, falls in love with an arrogant businessman Arjun Punj. In season 2, Aarohi comes from a Punjabi family and her grandfather and uncle belong in the police department. Arjun, on the other hand, comes from a family of criminals and eventually they both fall in love and had to find a way to bring their families together. We all fall in love with Karan and Kritika after this show and started believing in destiny.

9. Dekh Bhai Dekh

This serial was of a family with all sorts of idiosyncrasies. The beauty of this serial lied in its chaos made by the family members.The show takes the family through relationship troubles, business problems, irksome parents, and in-laws. It had a total of 66 episodes.

10. Boogie Woogie

It was a television dance show created by Naved Jaffrey and Ravi Behl. It was hosted by Javed Jaffrey, Ravi Behl, and Naved Jaffrey. In earlier seasons some particular themes were being allotted to the contestants that included Bollywood, Horror, Friendship and alike. After the success of the show, they also had Kid’s championship, Teen’s championship, and celebrity championship.
