Shanthanu Bhagyaraj

Having a filmy background, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj is an actor and belongs to Tamil film industry. Leading his father’s footstep, Shanthanu, started his career in films from 2008. He also was an assistant director in his sister’s film. Even though he is an actor and has a movie background, he completed his studies too and is nowadays experimenting with himself in movies as an actor. Personal Life: Shanthanu Bhagyaraj belongs to the famous actor and director, K. Bhagyaraj. Being a son of an actor and director he tried his hands at acting too and got mixed reviews. Born on 24th August 1986 in South India, he completed his schooling from Sishya School, Chennai. Later he graduated from Loyola College in Chennai in 2007 with a degree in Economics. His family includes K. Bhagyaraj(father), Poornima Bhagyaraj(mother) and Saranya Bhagyaraj(sister). His sister is also a notable actress. Shanthanu married TV anchor Keerthi on 21 August 2015. Keerthi is the daughter of famous choreographer, Jayanthi Vijayakumar and is popular as an anchor on television show 'Maanadu Mayilaadu' and 'Naalaiya Iyakkunar' which is aired on Kalaignar TV. Career: Shanthanu started his career in movies as early as a child, which was directed by his father only.

The movie was named as ‘Vettiya Madichu Kattu’ and was released in 1998, and later he entered into film industry with the debut role in 1998 only and had won many awards for his performance. Sakkarakatti, directed by Kala Prabhu was a hit, and he was a part of it. The producer of this film was S. Thanu. The film released with negative reviews in September 2008. But the song taxi taxi became a super hit song in this movie and especially among youths, the song is a chat buster. Shanthanu was also an assistant director in his sister, Saranya Bhagyaraj's debut, Parijatham. Awards: In 2008, he received ‘FilmFare Award’ for the Best South Male Debut in ‘Sakkarakatti’. Also in 2008, he got ‘Vijay Award’ for Best Debut Actor in ‘Sakkarakatti’. Not just this but in 2008, he also got ‘ITFA’ Best new actor award in Sakkarakatti’. Upcoming Movies: In 2016, he’s set to be launched in various movies like Vaaimai, Mupparimaanam and also Amali Thumali.
