A. Venkatesh is the well-known director of Tamil films. He is famous for directing the movies in very short period. He started his career by working as an assistant director under K. Rajeshwar for two films project namely “Idhaya Thamarai” (1990) and “Nyaya Tharasu” (1989). Further, he also worked with Pavithran for “Vasanthakala Paravai” (1991) and “Suriyan” (1992). Then he worked as an associate director in “
Kadhalan” (1994) and “
Gentleman” (1993) with director Shankar. The film “Kadhalan” turned out to be a fortunate one for him as, during this movie the producer, G. K. Reddy approached him to direct a film. And so, in 1996, his success journey began. He directed his debut by the film “Mahaprabhu” with Sukanya, R. Sarathkumar and Vineetha in leading roles.
Later in 2001, Venkatesh was announced as the director of the film “
Priyanka Chopra. This film had to be originally directed by Thirupathisamy but after his death, it was given to Venkatesh. But eventually, the film was dropped. Apart from directing films, he has also acted in many Tamil films. He was also seen on the small screen in Vijay TV's program which talked about his experience and career and also celebrated the success of one of his film- “
Nanban.” In 2008, Venkatesh had six film projects simultaneously to be worked upon. They were “Durai”(2008), “Malai Malai” (2009), “Vaadaa”(2010), “Bharath's Killadi”(2015), “Petrol” and “Imaya Malai.” Some were hit, others were not so hit; but all in all, he proved to be a great director with excessive potential.
