Ravi was born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. By profession, he is a cinematographer. Also, he penned the script and directed one movie. He has got some nominations and awards for his brilliant works. Ravi Varman is an Indian cinematographer and director, who works in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi films. He began his journey with a Malayalam film. He is also known for his writings, which has attracted the audience’s attention for his various works. He has also worked with a music video for a song named ‘Bird Flu’. Recently, he made his directorial debut with the film, Moscowin Cauvery. Apart from this, he has worked in several short films, music albums and television commercials.

Vijayan gained popularity after his first independent film as a Cinematographer in Vidiyum Munn. Brought up in Chennai and Kolkata, Vijayan is also an Electronics Engineer; graduated from Madras University. During his college days, he started to gain interest in film photography.In fact, it was Sreeram’sAlaipayuthey that inspired him to pursue cinematography instead of engineering. And so, immediately after completing his engineering, he joined Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata focusing on Motion picture photography (cinematography). Vijayan has started his career as Assistant Cinematographer with P. C. Sreeram in the film Paa(2009), Ishq (2012). During his college days in SRFTI, a friend of him named Valram(who was the assistant director toBalaji) showed a documentary to Balaji K. Kumar( the director). Eventually, they became friends and made Vidiyum Munn together. Vijayan stated in an interview that they shared similar ideology while making the script. And as a result, Vidiyum Munn was a grand success. It is the only Indian film being screened at the 21st International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in Vesoul, France.“Cinematography shouldn’t be noticeable. It’s not about flamboyant frames that distract viewers from the story. Good cinematography works subconsciously, and one of the hardest things to do is look away from that beautiful frame, just a click away,” he says, during an interview. Velrajan, also known by the name R. Velraj, was born on 21st October 1969 under the Libra star sign in Thirunagar, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. For schooling, he went to PKN Boys Higher Secondary School, Thirunagar. After completing his schooling, Velraj went to Madurai Sourashtra College, Madurai for completing his graduation. In 2007, he won Vijay Award for Best Cinematographer for the film "Polladhavan". He worked in Malayalam language films called "Malabar Wedding" and "Kandhar". The film "Aadukalam" of Tamil language, brought fame to his career. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Cinematographer- South in the year 2011 and Vikatan Award for Best Cinematographer as well. He received Vikatan Award for another Tamil movie "Engeyum Eppodhum". He worked in Kannada language film "Savaari" in 2012. He was the cinematographer for films like "Naan Rajavaga Pogiren", "Naiyaandi", "Ethir Neecha"l, "Velaiyilla Pattathari", "Poriyaalan", "Vai Raja Vai". His upcoming films are "Mariyappan" about to release in English and Tamil language and "Power Paandi", coming in the year 2017. He has appeared as an actor for special appearances in two of the films which are "Pugazh" and "Naan Rajavaga Pogiren". He In the year 2014, he made his debut as a director in the Tamil film called "Velaiyilla Pattathari", and he received SIIMA Award for Best Debut Director. His other directorial movie is "Thangamagan", released in the year 2015. He wrote stories for both of the films directed by him, and they received good responses. His fans expect more films from him as a director and cinematographer and promise to support him always.
