Poojappura Radhakrishnan is a Malayalam serial and cinema actor. He hails from the Poojappura district of the capital Trivandrum. Interested in acting from a young age, he first participated in acting troupes before his debut on the silver screen.
Kaiyum Thlayum Purathidaruthe was released in 1985. His next film was Desatanakkili Karayarilla (Migratory Birds Don’t Cry). Costarring Mohanlal, the film was critically acclaimed. One of the first films to deal with “womance” or feminine friendships, the plot follows the lives of two schoolgirls who run away during a class trip. Radhakrishan’s character plays a pivotal role. Also released in the same year was Namukku Parkkan Munthiri Thoppukal and Yuvajanotsavam.
In 1988, he acted with superstar Mammootty in the thriller August 1. The Sibi Malayil directed film was a huge hit and Mammootty has expressed a desire to act in a sequel. Kandathum Kettathum was also released that year.
He played a security guard in the 1989 film Chanakya, which also starred

and Thilakan. In Balachandran Menon’s Samaantharangal, he played Vasu. Radhakrishnan had a minor role as a hotel boy in Jagratha. Manthrikumaran (Minister Kumaran) was also released the same year.
His next collaboration with Balachandran Menon was in the Srinivasan starring film Krishna Gopalakrishna.

Radhakrishnan was a friend of the late actress Srividya and had accompanied her for her first checkup for breast cancer. He was deeply saddened by her death in 2006.
In Pakal Nakshatrangal (Morning Stars) he played T.P. Thodupuzha, an intellectual. The film deals with the life of Malayali intellectuals in the 1990s.
In 2012, he acted in the film adaptation of poet O.N.V. Kurup’s Kunjedathi. Directed by

, the Sreelakshmi Creations production also starred Mavelikkara Ramachandran and Girija. Radhakrishnan had a minor role as a house owner in the political drama Left Right Left.
Poojappura Radhakrishnan was a friend of the late director Padmarajan. It was only because Radhakrishan told T.K. Rajeev of the late director’s unspoken desire to offer his scripts to him that the later was able to obtain access to Padmarajan’s stories, culminating in the release of Rathinirvedam.

in Santhosh Souparnika’s Mizhi Thurakku. Set in the backdrop of the 1921 Malabar Mapilla rebellion, Poojappura plays a Hindu villager.
Poojappura Radhakrishnan is a recipient of AMMA’s (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) “Kaineetam” scheme and receives Rs. 5000 per month. The scheme aims to provide financial support to erstwhile stars of Mollywood.
