Subramanian Gopalakrishnan, most popularly known as Arjun Desai or Karthick, is an Indian actor who appeared in Tamil and Malayalam television serials. He was an Interior Decorator by profession before he started his stint as an actor. Initially, he played minor supporting roles and has also worked as an Assistant Director and voice artists, before he started working in television serials. Subramanian was born and raised in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

He used to be a smart student and was interested in doing extra-curricular activities. He did a lot of jobs to pursue his studies. He had worked as an Account Assistant, Interior Decorator, Private Telecom Supervisor, and Marketing Manager at the Polymer Industry. He completed a B.B.A. degree at the Madras University in Chennai. He made his film debut in Hari Krishna’s Tamil film, Aavani Thingal (2006). He worked as an Associate Director in Tamil films like Chachi (1997), Kadhal Mudichu (2013), Pachai Engira Kathu (2013), and Karuppampatti (2013).

Subramanian also acted in Mega serials such as Valli (2012-2013), Deivamagal (2013-2017), and Chandanamazha (2014-2017). He bagged several nominations for his performance as Arjun Jaypal Desai in Chandanamazha and even received the Special Jury Award at the Asianet Television Awards (2015), Most Popular Actor at the Asianet Television Awards (2016), and Most Popular Actor at the Asianet Television Awards (2017).
