and Oraepolae. Chilappol Penkutty, Prasad's previous film, was released in theatres in 2018. This movie looks at how society acts and reacts to, and occasionally connives at, issues concerning a girl's or woman's reputation. Chilappol Penkutty is a film written by M Kamarudeen and shot primarily in Alappuzha and Vagamon, with some scenes shot in some beautiful locations in Kashmir.
Prasad, who has directed TV serials such as Nombarapoo and Mayamohini in addition to famous shows, says he selected the "shorter" medium of celluloid to portray such a narrative for "immediate effect." In an interview, he describes Chilappol Penkutty as a "meeting midway between art-house and commercial cinema." He says the film seeks to raise awareness about "keeping safe" among girls and parents in "such dangerous times."
