Peethambaram Menon

Peethambaram Menon is an Indian Malayalam singer and actor. He was born in Irinjalakuda, Thrissur district in Kerala, India. Peethambaram Menon’s family has a musical background. His elder brother, Gopinathan Menon, was a Carnatic musician. He was inspired by his elder brother from a young age. He has participated in many singing competitions during his younger days. During his school days, he has been bagging several awards for his musical performances, which include at the awards district and state levels. Later on, Peethambaram Menon won the title “Voice of Thrissur” twice consecutively in the early seventies. In the 1970s, he was associated with singing concerts. 

As the lead singer, Peethambaram Menon started his musical career. He is associated with Kerala’s most famous band named “Thaikkudam Bridge.” The band consists of fourteen members hitting the charts and heart with nostalgia. He has rendered his melodic voice for memorable songs such as “Appozhum Paranjille Porandaa.” The song became instant famous on YouTube, and he earned appreciation from the young generations also. Peethambaram Menon’s son, Govind Menon, and nephew, Siddharth Menon, formed a phenomenal band in 2013. The ideology of Govind Menon behind the band was instrumental in bringing the group together.

The band’s debut show was on the Kappa TV channel for the musical show “Music Mojo.” His nephew Siddharth Menon also sang the song “Mandharachepundo” for the film Dasaratham. He was asked to join the band by his son, Govind Menon, but he was unprepared. He previously worked in the government services in the irrigation department in Kerala and retired in 2012. Thus, he became a part of the Thaikkudam Bridge band, contributing to his resonant signature style and jamming with a group of young musicians. He sang after thirty years of a long break from singing.

He performed live G. Devarajan’s song “Thekkumkooradiyathi.” It was the first song Peethambaran Menon attempted. He is now the star performer of Thaikkudam Bridge, the leading contemporary music band. In 2016, Peethambaram Menon sang in the Malayalam comedy film “Anuraga Karikkin Vellam,” directed by Khalid Rahman. The following year, he worked in the Malayalam comedy film “Honey Bee 2: Celebrations,” written & directed by Jean Paul Lal.
