Mata Amritanandamayi Devi is an Indian spiritual leader, guru, and humanitarian who is referred to as a saint by her followers. She was born on September 27th, 1953 and known as Amma. She is an Indian guru from Parayakadavu, Alappad Panchayat, Kollam district in Kerala. In her childhood, she gathered food scraps from her neighbors for her family’s cows and goats. She was very poor and faced many difficulties in her early days.
She started comforting people in their sorrows at an early age. She said that she doesn’t see anyone different from others. She has to console those who are suffering in sorrows. Amritanandamayi rejected many attempts for her marriage by her family. In 1981, a worldwide foundation Amritanandamayi Math founded. She continues to serve as the chairperson of the Math.
