Dominic Alummoodan, often known as Alummoodan, is a film actor in Malayalam cinema. He mainly came in comic roles. Born in Changanacherry in the state of Kerala, his father's name was Alummoottil Joseph, and his mother's name was Rosamma. His acting career began in the year 1966 with the movie, ‘
’, in which he played the role of an Afghan warrior. The next year, 1967, he did a lead role in the film, Madatharuvi Kola Case. It is an Indian Malayalam movie, which was produced and directed by Kunchacko. The movie was under the production company, Udaya. He came in many successful films. His presence added wit in the story. He started in 1966 and since then, he has acted in around hundred movies. ‘Thara’ was released in the year 1970 in which he came in the role of Pappu. The same year, he acted as the comic character, Master Menon, in the film, ‘Kuttavali’. The Malayalam movie, Panchavan Kaadu, came out in the year 1971. It was also directed and produced by Kunchacko. Alummoodan acted in many of Kunchacko’s films. In 1972, he did around eight to ten movies, all of which ran successfully.

’, in the year 2002. The 1970s to 1980s marked the golden era of his career. Acharam Ammini Osaram Omana, in which he did the role of Gopala Pilla, Arum Anyaralla in which he played Thommi, Vijayanum Veeranum, released in the year 1979, in which he came in a comic character Appu, were some of his movies of the 1970-1980 era. He also did various films in the year 1983. ‘Marakkillorikkalum’, in which he played Gopi, ‘Thavalam’, in which he played Outha Kutty, Swapname Ninakku Nandi, in which he played the role of a broker who gives the comic sensation to the script, were some of the classics of the year 1983.
He did not have a long life, but definitely a huge one. He acted tremendously and made people laugh, but on 3rd May, 1992, he died due to a heart attack. He was just fifty-nine then. Alummoodan has done a lot of memorable work in the industry and is remembered by everyone.
