Balachandran Chullikkadu is a noted Malayalam poet and an Actor who appears in Malayalam movies and TV serials. He is a very renowned poet and actor in Malayalam Industry. He was born on July 30, 1957 in Paravoor, a place in Kerala, India in a Hindu family. Balachandran Chullikkadu did his schooling from Ernakulum and pursued and completed his graduation from the Maharajas College in English Literature in Ernakulum, Kerala, India. After graduation, he joined Government service and alongside pursued his passion for Acting and Writing poems and songs.
In 2000, Balachandran Chullikkadu embraced Buddhism as he never believed in Hinduism and felt that Hinduism is the religion of Social Status and Set-ups. Balachandran is married to famous Malayalam poetess Vijayalakshmi. He retired from Government service on July 31, 2013. As an actor in Malayalam films and TV serials, Balachandran Chullikkadu is best known for his performances in G. Aravindan’s “Pokkiveyil” in 1981 in which he played a young music-loving artiste. He also composed the music and penned the lyrics for that film. Balachandran had also composed music for the Malayalam movie-“Ezuthaapuraangal” in the year 1987. Balachandran also turned into a playback singer and has sung many popular songs in various hit and successful Malayalam movies.
He is truly a multi-faceted film personality in the Malayalam movie and TV industry. He had also won the “National Film Award” in the year 2003 for the best Non-film narration for the “18 Elephants-3 Monologues”. He had also participated in the international book fair held in Sweden in the year 1997 representing Indian poetry. Balachandran Chullikkadu is also a screenplay writer, dialog and story writer in the Malayalam movies and TV serials. He had also published many poetry books and they were well appreciated.
