Bharanikkavu Sivakumar was one of the prominent lyricists in the Indian music industry. He was born on June 17, 1949 in Kattanam, Alappuzha, Kerala. Bharanikkavu Sivakumar’s wife is Omana and their daughter’s name is Parvati. Bharanikkavu Sivakumar’s dad was Narayanan Unnithan and his grandpa was one of the great poets Azhakath Padmanabha Kurup. His grandpa is known as the author of the epic Ramachandravilasam. Bharanikkavu Sivakumar did his high school education at Kattanam Pope Payas High School. Afterwards, he obtained a master's degree in English literature from NSS College, Changanassery.

during his childhood. During the year of 1973, he debuted in the film industry with a song for the movie Chenda. This movie was directed by Vincent Master who was a teacher at MSM College. Bharanikkavu Sivakumar has written songs in many languages, such as Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. Apart from that, he also wrote some plays, novels and even screenplays for some movies. Alongside, Bharanikkavu Sivakumar has also contributed as a director and producer for some films. Bharanikkavu Sivakumar received the Medimix Award MVES Television Award in 2003 for songwriting. He was also the winner of the Vayalar Memorial Committee Award during the year of 2005. Unfortunately, on January 24, 2007, Bharanikkavu Sivakumar passed away at his residence place because of a heart attack, at the age of 58.
