June Foray (full name June Lucille Forer) was a voice-over artist of Jewish, Canadian, French, and Ukrainian origins. She was born in Springfield in the United States of America. She was interested in dancing and even enrolled to be trained as a dancer but couldn’t continue after she fell ill with pneumonia. She made her debut on the radio in a drama at the age of 12 years. She was being trained by a speech instructor. She went to Classical High School in Springfield, Massachusetts. After completing her Higher Education she and her family shifted to Los Angeles. By the time she was 15 years old, she was a known name on radio networks like WBZA. In 1937 she started hosting her own radio show Lady Make Believe and also wrote the script. She became a regular on the Jimmy Durante Show and The Lux Radio Theatre in 1930s. She gave her voice to The Buster Brown Program and Smile Time for Steve Allen.

She along with others formed Association Internationale du Film d'Animation (ASIFA) and in 1972 started Annie Awards to appreciate animators. The ASIFA in the year 1995 introduced an award category after her name- The June Foray Award, with June Foray being the first recipient. She was seen on the screen in a single episode of Green Acres, in the feature film Sabaka, in a cameo role in Boris & Natasha, and one episode of The Duck Factory. She was awarded the Annie Award for her voice acting in the Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries in the category of Outstanding Achievement by a Female Performer. At the 65th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Foray received the Governor’s Award. She was the oldest artist to be nominated for an Emmy and to win an Emmy, aged 94. Apart from this, she had also been awarded the Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award (1988). Foray was married twice, first to Bernard Barondess which was short-lived and then to Hobart Donovan till he died in 1976. She died in 2017 two months short of her 100th birthday in California.
