Sara Berner (Lillian Ann Herdan)was born on January 12,1912, in Albany,New York,United States of America. She was an American actress and a voice-over artist. She was known for her expertise in dialect and characterization. She first made her mark on Jack Benny’s radio show in a dual role of a telephone operator and Gladys. She studied drama for two years at Tusla University in Oklahoma. She also worked as a salesgirl at a Philadelphia department store, but to mimic the customers she was fired. It was indeed a blessing in disguise for her as her talent was recognized .She got an opportunity to voice over many characters ,including Yiddish(Life with Luigi),Hillbilly,and many others.
In 1933 she worked primarily in animation with rare screen credit. It led to a string of offers for cartoon roles with Daffy Duck at Warner Brothers , Walt Disney(Mother Goose Goes Hollywood) and Walter Lantz (Hollywood Bowl). Her most popular voice was Beaky Buzzard’s Italian Mamma in 1945. The same year she voiced the most popular cartoon mouse, Jerry. By 1950, she had her comedy detective series on the radio network as –Sara’s Private Caper. Sadly, the show flopped. There was regular work as a small supporting actress in films and television. Sara made her last appearance in 1967. Two years later, she died on 19 December 1969 in Van Nuys, California, at the age of 57.
