Marvin Mueller, an actor, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 18, 1913. He started his career in radio in St. Louis, Missouri, and had a rich baritone voice. Miller began his radio career after graduating from Washington University. He served as the host of The Story Behind the Story, a daily 15-minute radio program produced by the Mutual Broadcasting System that included historical anecdotes.
In the 1940s and 1950s, he also worked as an announcer for several Old Time Radio programs, such as The Jo Stafford Show and the enduring mystery series The Whistler. On the May 21, 1942, in the broadcast of ‘The Right to Happiness,’ Miller made an appearance as ‘The voice of the Past.’ He also performed the roles of Howard Andrews in Midstream on the Blue Network and Dr. Lee Markham on NBC radio's The Woman in White. He served as the announcer for Songs by Sinatra from 1945 to 1947. On The Billie Burke Show (1943–1966), he announced the show and portrayed two characters. Later, he became a Hollywood actor.
In films, the hefty Miller was often featured in villainous parts, frequently taking on Asian characteristics. In the 1947 Humphrey Bogart movie Dead Reckoning, he played a vicious sidekick, and in the 1945 James Cagney movie Blood on the Sun, he played Yamada. He portrays Sleepy Parsons, a blind pianist, in the 1946 noir movie Deadline at Dawn. He is best known for his performance as Robby the Robot, which he reprised in the less well-known The Invisible Boy (1957), a science fiction picture from the year 1956 called Forbidden Planet.
On the television series The Millionaire (1955–1960), played by Paul Frees, he gave his voice. Miller's next most notable performance was as Michael Anthony, the devoted assistant of the kind-hearted billionaire John Beresford Tipton Jr. Miller had a heart attack and passed away in 1985 at the age of 71. In Los Angeles, he is interred at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary. For his contributions to the television industry, Marvin Miller has a star at 6101 Hollywood Boulevard on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
