She was raised in Los Angeles and studied at Beverly Hills High School. She eventually got inclined towards acting and trained under Florence Enright and Max Reinhardt. She entered the entertainment industry quite young and became a known name at The Lux Radio Theatre soon. (1946) and the comedy-drama The Clock (1949), followed by The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show in 1950, which was not accounted for. Apart from that she was seen on The Farmer from Monticello, Highway Patrol, The Donna Reed Show, The Bugs Bunny Show, The F.B.I., Love, American Style, The Bob Hope Special, Get Smart, The Bold Ones: The New Doctors, Goliath Awaits, Gunsmoke, The Best of the Post, The Further Adventures of Ellery Queen among others.

In addition to her film and television work, Bennett is also a talented voice actress. She has lent her voice to numerous animated series and films, including Quick Draw McGraw (1959), The Yogi Bear Show (1961), the film Hey There, It's Yogi Bear!, Yogi, and the Invasion of the Space Bears. She lent her voice to the Spider-man television series for the character of Aunt May Parker. She worked with some of the leading houses including Hanna-Barbera Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Warner Bros., and United Productions of America (UPA). She also worked as a voice-over artist in Transylvania 6-5000, Loopy De Loop, Daffy Duck's Quackbusters, I Was a Teenage Thumb, Tot Watchers, Tom's Photo Finish, Louvre Come Back to Me!, Strangled Eggs, Gay Purr-ee, Tijuana Toads, Crossings, Illegal and many more. She died in the year 2020 after contracting the COVID-19 virus.
