Christine Baranski

Christine Baranski was born on May 2, 1952. She is an American film and theatre actress. The acting was in her blood as her grandparents were also theatre actors. As a child, she took ballet lessons while she obtained her school education from Villa Maria Academy and went on to obtain a Bachelors of Arts from Julliard School from where she graduated in 1974. It is interesting to know that Christine was initially denied admission to Julliard School due to a gap between her teeth because of which she couldn’t pronounce the letter ‘s’. But she worked on that problem with a speech instructor and secured admission. Baranski won a one thousand dollar scholarship while at Julliard, which was the biggest amount awarded to a student back then. She spent the money for travelling across Europe for two months. She was married to actor Matthew Cowles until his death in 2014. She has two daughters Lily and Isabel.

Baranski is popular for her roles in famous TV shows such as "The Big Bang Theory" (as the mother of Leonard Hafstadter), "Cybill", "The Good Wife", and much more. Baranski had already completed twenty successful years in the theatre before trying her hand at TV shows.

In her theatre career, Baranski made her Broadway debut with a play called "Hide & Seek". She received a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in "The Real Thing" (1984) and then later for "Rumors" (1989) in the same category. She has starred in a total of thirty-three movies between 1980 and 2014 appeared in 38 television shows. She also played a role in a video game called "Skylanders: Swap Force". That is a very impressive career. In 2013 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award Even though she belongs to the film fraternity, Baranski did not permit her daughters to watch television for the longest time as she believed that the sexual content and violence on television would corrupt her daughters.
