Donna Summer was a famous American-African singer and songwriter in the Hollywood music industry. In the same year, she launched her first single, the German version of “Aquarius.” In 1969, she released a single, “If You Walkin' Alone.” She married Helmuth Sommer in 1973, but it ended in divorce soon. 

Due to an error in the record label, 'Donna Sommer' became 'Donna Summer' and became her career name. In 1974, her first album was released, named “Lady of the Night,” which had only two songs but became famous in the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, and Belgium. Her other song, “Love to Love You Baby,” hit the charts and came to No. 2 on the 'US Hot 100' by early 1976. Donna was always in the 'Top 40 hit' every year between 1976 to 1984. In her lifetime, she has achieved 32 charts in the “US Billboard Hot 100.”  She died on 17 May 2012 at 63 in Florida, U.S.A. because of lung cancer. She had achieved great success in her career and became the “best-selling music artist of all time.” She has won five “Grammy Awards” in her career. Donna Summer is an American singer and songwriter. Donna Summer was born on 31, December 1948, in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. She was the third daughter of Andrew who was a butcher and Mary Gaines who was a school teacher. She was raised in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She married Australian actor Heimuth Sommer in 1973, and had a daughter Natalia Pia Melanie Sommer in the same year. She got divorced in 1976, and she adopted the surname of her ex-husband as her stage name. Later, she married Brooklyn Dreams singer Bruce Sudano on 16 July 1980. They have two daughters named Brooklyn Sudano and Amanda Sudano. She was also a founder of Oasis Church in Los Angeles. She and her family moved to Los Angeles in 1995.

Donna Summer started her career in church performance at the age of 10 replacing a vocalist, who failed to appear. She completed her schooling at Boston’s Jeremiah E. Burke High School. In her school, she performed musicals and became popular among others. Summer joined the Blues Rock band Crow, New York in 1997 before graduating. She passed a record label in singing the group, and only interested in the band’s lead singer the group were decided to dissolve. She stayed in New York and auditioned for a role in the counterculture musical (Hair). Summer landed the part of Sheila and agreed to take the role in the Munich production of the show, and moved there after getting approval from parents in 1968. Summer became fluent in German, sang various songs, and participated in the musicals ICH BIN ICH (The German version of The Me Nobody Knows), Godspell, and Show Boat.

Summer became known as the “Queen of Disco,” while her music gained a global following. Her albums include Love to Love You Baby (1975), A Love Trilogy (1976), Four Seasons of Love (1976), I Remember Yesterday (1977), Bad Girls (1979), Donna Summer (1982), Another Place and Time (1989), Christmas Spirit (1994), and Crayons (2008). Donna Summer was selected for the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards. She won three American Music Awards for single, album, and female artist in the Disco category awards in January 1979. She died on 17, May 2012, in Florida, United States.
