John Quaintance

They say no one can control destiny and that life has its beautiful schemes embedded in the shadows of the hardest times. His story is an example of this phenomenon of life.

John Quaintance is a screenwriter and TV producer, born and brought up in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated with a degree in theatre from Illinois’s Northwestern University and then shifted to Los Angeles. He was a part of many stage productions, held locally such as – “King Lear”. King Lear is a tragic story written by William Shakespeare. The tragedy derived from the legend of Leir of Britain is adapted as a stage production. John was also a part of another Shakespearean drama “A Midsummer Night’s Dream". He has also acted in few commercials.

Before joining his current career, John used to do stand-up comedy and was a corporate entertainer. His first break was given to him by FOX in the year 2000. He had written a comedy show which FOX purchased from him. He came to L.A. with his version of the American Dream. He wanted to pursue acting and stand-up comedy, but life had other plans for him. He recalls his “change” from acting to writing while talking to a New York-based magazine. According to John, the big shift came when his wife got pregnant in 2002 and he was broke and had no prospects then he decided that he needed to make some money. His final push of inspiration came from the life story of legendary novelist Dalton Trumbo - the writer of Roman Holiday. Quaintance’s story was far less dramatic, but it too had a tinge of hope in it. With his pockets empty and wife on the final stage of her pregnancy, he came up with a commercially viable story - Material Girl. He wrote the plot with Amy Rardin. After this shift there was no looking back. His career accelerated and he went on to work with famous production houses such as- FOX, TBC, NBC, and the USA, writing scripts over scripts. He was the executive producer for NBC’s “Undateable” and FOX’s show “Ben and Kate”, a comedy series dealing with the lives of brother-sister duo Ben and Kate. John married Rachel Quaintance in 1997 and is currently residing in Los Angeles with his kids and wife.
