Laura Mackenzie Phillips was born on 10th November 1959 in Alexandria in Virginia, USA. Laura is a singer and actress. Her father was John Phillips, who was a singer, and mother was Susan Adams. Laura did her schooling from Highland Hall Waldorf School, Northridge in California.

While in school, she formed a musical band with her three classmates. A casting agent spotted her during a band’s performance. He approached her to audition for the movie American Graffiti. This was how she got her first movie role at the age of 12. The movie released when she was 13. She played the character named Carol Morrison. The movie was a hit.

She started doing television shows as well. She starred as Julie Mora Cooper Horvath in the TV show titled One Day Click to look into! >> Read More... at a Time. At the time of the filming of the show, Laura was arrested for her reckless behaviour. She got into drugs and alcohol. Due to her unprofessional behaviour, she was fired from the show in 1980. After undergoing treatment, she again joined the show but was ousted again because she resumed taking drugs.

She got into rehabilitation to get rid of her drug problem in 1992. Laura did a new version of the song The Mamas & the Papas, which was called The New Mamas and The Papas in the mid-80s to the early 90s. In 1975, she played the role of Rita Sykes in the movie Rafferty and the Gold Dust Twins, which received a favourable response. She played the role of Molly Phillips, a rock star in the Disney series named So Weird in 1999.

She did a movie for the Disney Channel called Double Teamed in 2002. In 2015, the actress did a cameo in the show Hot in Cleveland’s episode About a Joy. She received the Honorary Best Actress Award at the Female Eye Film Festival in 2011 for her role as Sharon in the movie Peach Plum Pear. Laura married thrice. Jeff Sessler was her first husband, guitar player Michael Barakan was her second husband, and Keith Levenson is her partner currently to whom she got married in 2005.

The couple has a son named Shane Barakan. Mackenzie released her memoir, High on Arrival in 2009. She revealed that she had sexual relations with her father. Currently, she works as a counsellor for drug rehabilitation at the Breathe Life Healing Centre, California.
