Born in Glasgow, Kelly MacDolnald is a Scottish actress, whose career in acting started when she was a bartender in Glasgow. It might as well be fate calling out to her when she saw a flyer regarding an open casting audition and decided to try out for the part of Diane, a young seducer to Ewan McGregor’s Renton. She was also a part of “Two Family House”, “Finding Neverland”, “Gosford Park”, and “Intermission”, the last two being some of the most important projects of her acting career. She was “Mary” in the BBC radio drama, “Lifehouse” in the year 1999; some of the songs of this radio show were launched on “The Who’s” upcoming album, “Who’s Next”. Some of the popular television shows which she has been a part of and best identify her are, “State of Play” in the year 2003, and “The Girl in the Café” in the year 2005.
For her brilliant enactment in “The Girl in the Café”, she earned a nomination in the “Golden Globe Awards” for “Best Actress- Miniseries or Television Film” in the year 2006. However, she did win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie. Whether it is being “Evangeline” in “Nanny McPhee” or playing a supporting character in “A Cock and Bull Story”, MacDonald has always proven her worth as an actress, considering that she was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
In the year 2010, she appeared in the British independent movie, “The Decoy Bride”, which was released in 2012. She portrayed the character of “The Grey Lady” in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2”. MacDonald lent her voice for the animated character of Merida, the heroine of the animated movie, “Brave”. Also, she was in the HBO television series, “Boardwalk Empire”, appearing in all the five seasons. In the year 2003, she tied the knot with the musician, Dougie Payne, the bassist of the rock musical band, “Travis”, and had two children with him.
