Gia Carides is sister to Zoe Carides, who is also an actress, and Danielle Carides, who is a singer as well as a lyricist. Gia's brother-in-law (Jonathan LaPaglia) is an actor, who was once a doctor. She started her acting when she was 12. She got introduced in the industry with ‘The Love Letters from Teralba Road’ which was a hit drama.

The star cast of the film also includes Bryan Brown along with Kris McQuade. Carides performed as Helena Angelopoulos in the Australian TV series called Police Rescue.
