Many people of different nationalities come to Mumbai with a dream of making it big in the Bollywood industry. However, not all those who come here, get what they are seeking.
Fortunately, for Ilene Hamann, luck struck her right when she came to the city of dreams. South African by nationality, Ilene was born on 9th June 1984 in Jeffreys Bay and resided there till the time she moved to Cape Town, South Africa. Her parents were of different descents - Portuguese mother and a Dutch father. She finished her schooling at Nico Malan High School and completed matriculation there, after which she went on to attend a Photography course at Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography. However, owing to the number of modeling assignments she was receiving, she dropped out after her first year of the course. She continued her career in photography and modeling before she ventured into films. In India, Ilene started off her career by bagging a lead role in the movie Rog, starring opposite Irrfan Khan.
She is the first South African model to get a lead role in a Bollywood film.
