Bonnie Franklin, known for her role in the decade-long soap opera "One Day at a Time" was an American actress, and was the recipient of a Primetime Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Tony award for her role in the series. Born to parents Samuel Franklin and Claire in Santa Monica, California, Bonnie pursued her education at the Beverly Hills High School, after the family had relocated to Beverly Hills. Franklin attended the University of Los Angeles where she obtained a bachelor's degree in the year 1966. At the tender age of 9, Bonnie Franklin made her television debut with The Colgate Comedy Hour, and later on, featured in a brief role in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Wrong Man." The decade of the 1960s saw Bonnie in the Procter & Gamble-produced educational film "You're the Judge." She also featured in television series such as Hazel, Karen, Mr. Novak, Gidget, and "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." 1970s marked the inception of Bonnie's Broadway debut with "Applause," and she was nominated for a Tony award.

Franklin recorded the show's title track which gained her acclamations from various critics, and consequently, in 1970, she features in the Vogue magazine. In the years that followed, Franklin was a part of stage plays such as "A Thousand Clowns" and "George M!" at the Paper Mill Playhouse, and in "Carousel" at the Jones Beach Theater. It was in the year 1975 that Bonnie was cast in "One Day at a Time," a television comedy series for which she is renowned. The 1980s saw Franklin perform at various theaters such as the Bucks County Playhouse, Westside Arts Theater, Pittsburgh Public Theater, Ford's Theater, and the Rubicon Theater, just to name a few. Right from the 1990s to the millennium, she has performed in numerous cabarets and stages. Bonnie also featured in various episodes of the soap opera "Young and the Restless," portraying the character of Sister Celeste. Franklin was married to Marvin Minoff, until his death on the 9th of November, 2011. The following year, Bonnie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and she passed away on the 1st of March, 2013.
