Trombone Shorty is the stage name of American musician, producer, actor and philanthropist Troy Andrews. He was born in New Orleans, United States and was also raised there. He has this stage name as he is a professional and rather one of the bests while playing trombone and trumpet. He is a multi-instrumentalist and is known for his versatile talent. His childhood included participation in brass band parades and also becoming the band leader at the age of six. During his teens, he was the member of Stooges Brass Band, where he attended the New Orleans Centre for Creative Arts (NOCCA). He was always talented and was appreciated by many in the neighborhood; he also was a band member of Lenny Kravitz’s horn section in world tour. He got recognized and met Bob Ezrin, where he started working with him and U2 at Abbey Road Studios. This was a big break for him as it led him to work with U2 and Green Day during the re-opening of the New Orleans Superdome for the NFL’s Monday Night Football. He also appeared in the NBC television series Studio 60 in the Sunset Strip. He led the New Orleans musician group and performed the holiday classic “O Holy Night”. He was named the Performer of the Year by New Orleans music magazine. He also appeared in some of the TV Series like Treme on HBO, where he appeared in six episodes. He is a regular face when it comes to various parades in the country. He also performs at the National Christmas Tree Lighting, Sportscenter, NBA All-star Game Half Time Show and The Hour.
Over the course of his career, he performed at many venues and at many functions which made popular. In 2011, he made an album named For True, which earned great reviews and was loved by all. He received the President’s Medal from Tulane University President Scott Cowen at the University’s Commencement Ceremony at the Mercedez-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. He received this medal for his contribution to the Horns for School Project. He pleased the visitors with some delightful trombone work. He also performed at the 56th Grammy Award held in Los Angeles. He is loved not only by the American citizens but also liked by the President himself. He played twice for President Obama at the White House in 2015. He has performed on a huge scale in his career and has received many praises. His dedication towards the work is what makes him different from others. He has appeared in Soundmix, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Odd Couple and many other shows. He also performed in some live albums like New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008. His studio album includes Say that to Say This, For True, Orleans & Claibore and much more. He also performs with drums, organs and tuba and has known for his performance with various rock, pop, jazz, hip hop and EDM artists. He is a renowned personality and is expected to do better in the coming future.
