Sam Riley is an English singer and a renowned actor. He was born on January 8, 1980, in Menston, West Yorkshire of England. He is a familiar face in the industry since his debut in 2007. He drew attention for his participation in the biographical movie Control. He also garnered attention through his role as the protagonist Sal Paradise in On the Road, and also in the 2014 movie Maleficent. His father Andrew Riley was a textile agent while his mother Amanda was a nursery school teacher. He gained his education from the Malsis School, Cross Hills.
His most appreciated role came as the portrayal of Ian Curtis and his biopic, where he played the lead singer of Joy Division. The movie gained him a BAFTA rising star nomination, a British Independent Film Award for the most promising newcomer and critical acclaim worldwide. He endorsed the British fashion house Burberry as he featured in their Autumn and Winter collection of 2008.
