Mads Mikkelsen is an eminent Danish actor. He was born as Mads Dittmann Mikkelsen on November 22, 1965 at Østerbro, Copenhagen in Denmark to Bente Christiansen and Henning Mikkelsen. Mads grew up in Nørrebro. During his childhood, he was trained to become a gymnast and he aims to pursue athletics. However, he studied in Gotherburg where he become articulate in speaking Swedish language. He became a professional dancer for almost ten years until he quits and decided to study at the Århus Theatre School to start a career in acting.

He was debuted as a film actor through the Danish crime film, Pusher in 1996, where he played as the sidekick of Frank (played by

). The film made a success internationally and later, two sequels were produced. He continued to play small roles and most often, he did comic roles in popular Danish films. But later, he bagged the lead role of Lenny in the crime drama film, Bleeder in 1999. In 2000, he essayed the role of Arne, a gangster in the black comedy film, Flickering Lights. In 2005, the brilliant actor played the role of Ivan Fjesldsted in the black comedy film, Adam’s Apples. Mads’ breakthrough was from the television crime series, Rejseholdet where he played as Allan Fischer, a detective inspector from which he gained the Best Actor Award at the TvFestival.dk. In the same year, his portrayal of Le Chiffre’s character in the popular film, Casino Royale was extensively acclaimed. Later, he was cast in the lead role as Jacob Petersen in the drama film, After the Wedding from which he also earned many nominations in different festivals.
