Plot
The mandrill Rafiki narrates the story of Mufasa and Taka to Mufasa’s granddaughter, Kiara. Simba and Nala are Kiara’s parents. He explains how the orphaned Mufasa developed a relationship with Taka, the prince and became one of the members of Taka’s family. The meerkat Timon and the warthog Pumbaa join Rafiki in the narration.
Star Performance
Aaron’s voice perfectly fits Mufasa, and it balances humility and pride neatly. Kelvin’s voice for Taka, aka Scar, is excellent. His voice needed a big transformation, and he did justice to it. Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and Mads Mikkelsen did justice to their characters.
Analysis
The visuals appear in grandeur. The CGI is perfect, and the expressions are perfectly designed by the VFX team. The backstory of Mufasa is finely narrated. There are a lot of heart-warming moments and also emotional moments that raise the tension. Scar’s scenes create fear and make him a menacing character. However, the transformation from Taka to Scar needed a bit more depth. Though the screenplay is decent, the makers find it tough to match it with the visuals. The BGM is okay, but not as convincing as in the previous part.

Verdict
If you loved Lion King, you’ll definitely like Mufasa. The visual appeal is so grand that everyone who watches the film will travel along with the story. Mufasa is definitely a one-time watch!
