Jon Cryer, also known as Jonathan Niven is an actor from America who has contributed as a television director, screenwriter and has even worked as a movie producer. He is very well known for his roles in “The Famous Teddy Z”, “Partners”, and “The Trouble with Normal”. In 2003, he was seen in the character of Alan Harper in the series “Two and a Half Men”. Jonathan Niven Cryer, popularly known as Jon Cryer was born to Gretchen Cryer, an American lyricist, actress and playwright and Donald David Cryer, an American actor and singer on April 16, 1965, in New York. Cryer, at the age of four, stepped into the spotlight as a child model for a Vitamin bottle label.

He graduated in 1983 from Bronx High School of Science and as a teenager had attended Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Centre. Cryer, at the age of twelve, had decided to enter the acting field, although his mother, herself an actress had certain reservations about it. Later, Cryer decided to skip college and went to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), London to act on his passion for acting. Cryer got his first big break in 1983 when he received the opportunity of replacing Matthew Broderick in a role in the Broadway show ‘Torch Song Trilogy’. In 1984, ‘No Small Affair’, a 1984 romantic comedy film directed by Jerry Schatzberg starred Jon Cryer along with Demi Moore, was Cryer’s debut film at the age of nineteen in a lead role. He belongs to a family of celebrities, given that both of his parents are actors and singers.
