David Belle

Born on 29 April 1973, to Raymond and Monique Belle, David Belle is a French actor and stunt choreographer. He is the founder of parkour, (a form of fighting technique that he developed) which was introduced to him by his father. He used this technique for his movie appearances like District 13 and its American remake Brick Mansion. He describes himself as a traceur (someone trying to understand parkour ).

Early in life, Belle joined military services to follow the footprints of his father and grandfather who also worked in the military but later he confessed that the regimental life of military did not appeal to him due to his love for adventure and once his service got over he will dedicate his life to parkour. He also visited India once for three months to learn Kung Fu. Later he shot footage of his abilities which he eventually turned into the renowned Speed Air Man video and taught parkour to many other students.

Belle’s acting career began with a play, Pygmalion, and later he did promotional videos or worked with brands like Tina Turner, Iam, the BBC, Nissan, Canon, and Nike. On seeing his work and skills, Belle was contacted by Director Luc Besson and approached for the action movie District 13, followed by the sequel District 13: Ultimatum. He is generally described as a shy personality and someone who stays away from the spotlight by media. Belle is the leader of the group who call themselves as “les traceurs,” who practice parkour . He also formed World Parkour Association, but the group was later stopped by him.
