Conleth Hill

Born in Ballycastle, a city in County Antrim in Northern Ireland in the UK on 24 November 1964, Conleth Hill is a well-known actor who has worked in several films and TV shows. Conleth has three siblings who are also associated with the film industry. His brother Ronan received two Emmy awards for his work of sound mixing on the popular TV series, Game Of Thrones.

Conleth is a graduate of an arts school, Guildhall, located in London where he studied acting. Hill has been more active as a theater artist. Conleth embarked his acting journey with the play, Stones in his Pockets, penned down by Marie Jones. Conleth has acted in many plays and films as well. But theater is just one of the many feathers in his hat. He is a renowned and well-known face in films and TV shows. He has also directed and written plays. Conleth acted in some stage productions including Uncle Vanya, The Producers, Endgame, The Suicide, Juno and the Paycock, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Macbeth.

In 1988, he appeared in one episode of the TV series, ‘Boon’. After that, he starred in shows like ‘Casualty’ and Blue Heaven. In Casualty, Conleth played Theo and appeared in two episodes. Conleth portrayed Roache in the show, Blue Heaven and worked for seven episodes. Since then he has done guest roles in various shows including The Bill, ‘Medics’, On The Up, ‘Screenplay’, Crown Prosecutor, and much more.

His first significant role came in with the movie, A Man You Don’t Meet Every Day (1994). Conleth played Michael in this film, and it was a romantic film which had a good rating of 7 on IMDb. Conleth has worked in famous movies including ‘Intermission’, Meaningful Sex, and ‘Goodbye, Mr. Chips’. Since 2011, Conleth is working in HBO’s Game Of Thrones, which has a great rating of 9.5 on IMDb. Conleth played the character of Lord Varys in this show and had been there in the series since the very first season.

Game of Thrones is a show inspired by the books written by George R.R. Martin. Conleth has also worked in short films like The Shore where he essayed the character of Paddy. He also directed the play, Can’t Forget about You. Conleth won so many awards including Olivier Award, Drama Desk Award and Dora awards.
