Wes Miller is a filmmaker who makes socially relevant action films with a little more profound meaning. His films specialize in exploring problems and violence prevalent in America. Miller was born and raised in Memphis, TN, and attended college at the University of Memphis-Lambuth. He went to law school to pursue law. Later, Miller worked as a civil rights trial lawyer. In 2015, he ultimately left the law practice and began honing his skills as a visual storyteller.
In 2016, he released, ‘ Prayer Never Fails Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ and was nominated for awards at the Long Beach International Film Festival. His next film, The Western, ‘Hell on the Border’ tells the true story of formerly enslaved man Bass Reeves, who became the first Black deputy U.S. Marshall west of the Mississippi River in the late 1800s, screened at multiple film festivals and in many Colleges and Universities. His latest movie, ‘A Day to Die’ tells the story of Connor Connolly, who must pay a $2 million debt to Tyrone Pettis and asks his old military ops crew to help him before his loved ones pay the price.
Miller has made his name in a very short period and has continued to deliver films that are commercial, socially and culturally relevant, and impactful. His films talk about the ideas of good versus evil, police versus criminals, and power versus people and offer a story that encourages one to reconsider the political and social traditions America has created. His movies are sensitive enough to touch the audience’s heart and involve strong characters.
Miller can translate the complexities of American political and judicial systems of power into his movies because of his legal background, but the switch from legal practitioner to a director is hard; jumping from one industry to another has involved many significant risks. Wes Miller began his career with short films like 'In Your Hands,' 'Chapter One: The Date' and 'What a Wonderful World.'
In 2015, he directed his first feature film titled 'Lily Grace: A Witch Story.' Since then, he has donned the director's hat for several movies. Even when he was in law school, he had his own Pixel-2000 and made black-and-white films with his friends in the neighborhood. Also in his school days, Miller was a three-sport athlete. Movies have been a massive part of Miller’s life; they were one of the mediums that would turn for his motivation. Miller's filmmaking style is expeditious and has gained worldwide popularity.
