In the year 2016, Theodore Melfi, co-produced and directed a film named Hidden figures, which was nominated for Oscars for the title of Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture. Melfi started his career in Hollywood with the name of Ted Melfi and initially worked as a producer in his early days. His first films were Park day which was released in the year 1998. Many other films are written, produced, co-produced and directed by him.

He has also worked for some time in TV films and directed series like A Dating Story, Winding Roads, and Morph Man. Theodore Melfi is versatile and a talented director in the Hollywood Industry. He has also acted in some movies. Some of these are: I Want Candy, Game of Life, The Story of Bob, and Joe Killionaire. He moved to Los Angles (LA) in the year 1994 due to the big Earthquake.

He wanted to be a writer but had to work as a cook in a small Italian cafe in Studio City. He also worked as a security guard at night at a Strip club in the Valley to meet his basic requirements of living. He used to stand in the parking lot, watching cars. There were no fringe benefits in the job. He got the training of direction by making short films and commercials. It was like a gym for him. He has learned a lot by making short films and commercials, and according to him, he would be nowhere without this work. He is very grateful to his short film work. He has struggled for long ten years in his life and reached to this level only after a sheer hard work.
