Kumar Mayank is an Indian director, producer, writer, actor, and cinematographer from Mumbai, Maharashtra. After earning his engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Varanasi, Kumar Mayank held a few corporate jobs before leaving them to pursue a career in filmmaking. Since then, he has worked as a freelancer, took a course in motion picture production at the Asia Pacific Film Institute in the Philippines, and sometimes assisted in TV advertisements and feature-length films in Mumbai. His short films have screened internationally at events like the Split Film Festival, the Santa Fe Film Festival, the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival, the Filipino Arts and Cinema International (FACINE), the Trenton Film Festival, and the IntimaLente Ethnographic Film Festival, among others.
His short films have also won awards at events like the International Signes De Nuit Festival and the Bare Bones International Film & Music Festival. Kumar has written, directed, and produced all of his short films. He released his first documentary short, Banana Wilderness, in 2012. His other works include Lonely Sunsets of Lemuel, Behind the Cloud There Lives a Sun, and Haiku. He debuted as an actor in 2013 with the International movie Prague. He has also acted in the short films Ketchup and Cubao Kid: Until the Last Bullet.
