Tessa Blake is an excellent filmmaker, television director, and screenwriter who hails from Los Angeles, California. Her films premiered at Cannes and SXSW and won awards from Nantucket and Human Rights Watch.

Moreover, Tessa has directed plays for Naked Angels Theater Company and The Atlantic Theater Company. She learned all the basics of direction at 24-Hour Plays and later became the founding advisor for The Moth. Tessa has played on Showtime, CBS, CW & Oxygen, PBS & DirecTV. In 2021, she directed the "Our Ladies of Brooklyn," produced by Jennie Urman.  

During her initial days, she worked as a cocktail waitress, where she learned the importance of remembering people's names and leadership skills. Later, when she opted for movies, she faced several rejections. She often talks about how she overcame obstacles and did legendary levels of preparation to gain flexibility on set. Tessa remained honest and assertive while making her first episode of network television NCIS: New Orleans.

Afterward, Tessa directed Election Night, starring Peri Gilpin and comedian Jake Johannsen, which premiered at the Cannes Film. Tessa completed the production of Upended, a dramatic short starring Amy Landecker. She also directed Words with Girls, a pilot created by Brittani Nichols and produced by Issa Rae and Color Creative TV. Tessa made her debut in the documentary 'Five Wives, Three Secretaries and Me,' which premiered at SXSW.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences selected it for its Outstanding Documentary series. ‘Leave Keys in Car,’ a short Tessa made a comedy movie in Hawaii that won the Best Comedy award at the Lady Filmmaker Festival, an Award of Excellence at the Best Shorts Competition, and Best of Fest at the Bahamas International Film Festival. She truly embraces and enjoys what she does for the audience’s entertainment.
