Daniel Barnz is a screenwriter as well as a director. He was born in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania. His birth name was Daniel Bernstein. He changed his surname after his partner, Ben Schwartz’s surname. His present surname, Barnz is a union of Bernstein and Schwartz, Barnz. Ben Schwartz is Daniel Barnz from over two decades. Ben Schwartz, also known as Ben Barnz was the producer of the film Cake directed by Daniel Barnz. Ben and Daniel has two children. Daniel went to Yale University and completed his graduation from there. He started his career in the film industry from 2001.

In 2001, he directed his first movie called The Cutting Room. It was a comedy short film of 15minutes. Tawanda Blair, Shannon Holt, Steven Flynn, Lauren Lane, Sarah Koskoff, etc. were cast in this short film. His next movie came out in 2009. It was called Phoebe in Wonderland. It was a story about a woman, played by Aniston and how she deals with the mishaps that take place around her including the death of her son in a car accident. The movie received a Voice Award because it portrayed mental health in a respectful manner by the Substance Abuse and the Mental Health Services Administration.
