Alejandro G Inarritu is a producer, screenwriter, composer, and a director of Mexican descent. He was born in Mexico City, Mexico, on August 15, 1963. Alejandro's parents' names are Héctor González Gama and Luz MarÃa Iñárritu.
His has seven siblings. During his teenage days he crossed the Atlantic Ocean and reached Europe and Africa. This travel sojourn shaped his vision greatly. Most of his films have the premise of the places he has visited.
Besides this, he enjoys listening to music, and it inspires his work too. Later, he came back to his hometown and enrolled himself in Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico's prestigious university, to do major in communications.
Alejandro kick-started his professional journey as a radio jockey at Mexico's most famous rock station named WFM. Alejandro would broadcast audio stories. His section became so successful that it became an inspiration for several generations of RJ's and radio producers. Alejandro became the producer of Televisa at a young age.
He has composed music for six feature films of Mexico. While formulating, he became acquainted with Guillermo Arriaga and they commenced to write screenplays together. In 1990, he established a production company named Z Films and started directing, writing, and producing, commercials and short films.
It became one of the most prolific firm and launched seven new and talented directors. Alejandro learned the art of movie making from Ludwik Margules, a theatre veteran, and Judith Weston and veered towards TV and motion pictures.
He has worked on Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), Flesh and Sand, Amores Perros, and much more. Alejandro's prefers the style of story-telling wherein the creator intersperses more than one episodes into one film. In 2017, Cannes Film Festival and Prada Foundation presented Alejandro's virtual reality show Carne y Arena. Most of his work have received critical as well as commercial success.
He has launched actor Gael GarcÃa Bernal. Alejandro and his work have won several accolades like Academy Awards, Best Original Screenplay, Directors Guild of America Awards, and others. He is the first director from Mexico who has attained the nominations for Academy Awards and Directors Guild of America Award for his direction skills.
Los Angeles County Museum of Art honored him at their Art + Film Gala. He married Maria Eladia Hagerman, who is a graphic designer and editor. Alejandro is a father to a daughter and a son named Maria Eladia and Eliseo respectively.
