Early Life Jakes was born and brought up in Virginia itself. He was enrolled at Virginia State University but later dropped out to take care of his invalid father. Jakes’ dedication towards his belief made him a confident speaker and pastor. As years passed by, Jakes' congregation grew, and he started to focus on the needs of the women.
