His father’s name was Kalmen Seinfeld, a Jewish immigrant’s son, and mother’s name was Betty. Jerry was brought up in New York’s Massapequa. He did his schooling from Massapequa High School, Long Island. He went to the State University of New York. Soon after the first year, he shifted to Queens College. He started volunteering in Kibbutz Sa’ar, Israel when he was 16 years old. During his college days, Jerry did some productions.

At this time, his interest in stand-up comedy developed. He graduated from Queens College in 1976. After that, he did an open-mic show at Catch a Rising Star. After this, he got an offer from HBO to work with Rodney Dangerfield. He continued doing open-mic shows. He made his screen debut in a sitcom named Benson (1979), in which he played a small role of a delivery boy Frankie. He left the serial because of creative differences with the show producers.

In 1989, Jerry came up with the script of Seinfeld, along with Larry David. It was a show where Jerry played a semi-fictionalised version of himself. It ran nine seasons and Jerry became a household name. The show got Jerry American Comedy Award, Emmy Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and Golden Globe Award among others. His most notable movie work was the 2007-released Bee Movie. He co-wrote and produced the movie as well. The film got nominations at major award shows. Seinfeld is married to Jessica Seinfeld since 1999. The couple parents two sons, Julian Kal and Shepherd Kellen, and a daughter named Sascha. He was listed at the 12th spot by the Satellite TV channel Comedy Central in 2005.
