Jason West

Jason West is a self-taught cinematographer who works in the Indian film industry. He is a London based cinematographer who has put roots in Bollywood. He took birth in London in the United Kingdom. Like many other musicians, creative artists, and choreographers this cinematographer, DOP (Director of Photography) has also made way into the Indian Cinema and made it his home.

He is famous for his work in Delly Belly and Don 2. Jason presently lives with his family in Bandra, Mumbai. He was born in London, United Kingdom. As a teenager, he studied at a film school in London. Later he opened a computer store that got successful and made him a profit.

But this work had not been destined for Jason. In an interview, Jason said that the work was profitable but was dull. Jason visited a film set for the first time, and that is when he decided that this was what he wanted to do. In his initial years of the new career, Jason worked as a light boy in pop and hop videos.

Rock On since being a rock musical attracted him a lot; it was Jason’s first feature film as DOP. The hit movie bagged Jason awards for Best Cinematographer Filmfare award, Star Screen best cinematography award, and Indian Academy best cinematography award.

In 2011, he shot Abhinay Deo’s directorial Delly Belly. This movie also became a hit as it grossed USD 114 million worldwide. The adult comedy film adorned Jason with a nomination in Best Cinematography Colors Screen Award. In the same year, Jason shot Farkhan Akhtar’s directorial DON 2 starring Shahrukh Khan. In his 12 years long career Jason has found love and work in India making it as his home.
