Rupert Joel Degas was a British-Australian actor, voice-over artist, and impressionist. He was born on August 17, 1970, in London, England. His father, Brian Degas, is a producer and screenwriter, and his mother, Maggie Clews, is a radio, and television presenter. He studied at Hill House School, Knightsbridge, and Emanuel School, Wandsworth. He is famous for lending his voice to Zoomer, and Scrambler in Bob the Builder from 2004-2011. His other animation works include Robotboy, Thomas & Friends Lucky Fred, Chop Socky Chooks, The Amazing World of Gumball, and Groove High.
He has provided voices for Kitty is Not a Cat, Maya the Bee: The Honey Games, Busy, Alien TV, 100% Wolf, Kangaroo Beach, The Wild Adventures of Blinky Bill, The Strange Chores, and Peter Rabbit 2: the Runaway. He has narrated more than 300 audiobooks wherein The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, and Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Land, received particular critical acclaim. He was inducted as a Golden Voice in 2022 by AudioFile Magazine. His first film debut was in Reunion.
His other notable television appearances include Passport to Murder, A Touch of Frost, Over Here, Love Soup, Holby City, Van der Walk, Shoot the Messenger, Nathan Barley, Lovejoy, Waiting for God, and Red Dwarf. He has performed in over eighty plays and series, including Grovers Mill, Dirk Gently, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Brightonomicon, His Dark Materials, and Starship Titanic. He is also a regular contributor to the podcast, A Rational Fear.
