He was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, as the youngest of the three children of Francis Xavier Boyle and Alice Boyle. Peter Boyle, who began his film career as a bold, blunt weapon of hatred and violence, later recoiled from that disgusting, politically incorrect working-class image to play stern, softer bears and even comedy monsters over the course of a four-decade career. Boyle rose to prominence after acting in the 1970 film Joe, in which he played the main character, a prejudiced New York City manufacturing worker.

The film’s release was marred by controversy due to its graphic violence and profanity. During this period, Boyle made good friends with actress Jane Fonda Jane Fonda was born on 21st December, 1937 in New >> Read More... , with whom he took part in numerous Anti-Vietnam War protests. He also appeared on Ernie Kovacs’ morning show on WPTZ from time to time. His roles in the films Taxi Driver (1976), Tail Gunner Joe (1977), Hardcore (1979), and Here to eternity (1979) are notable.

Boyle garnered his first Emmy nomination for his outstanding dramatic performance as Senator Joseph McCarthy in the 1977 television film Tail Gunner Joe. Despite this, he was frequently cast as a supporting actor rather than as a protagonist. In 1996, Boyle earned an Emmy Award for his guest-starring appearance in the science-fiction drama The X-Files. Boyle was best known for his role, as the Deadpan, grumpy Frank Barone in the CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, which ran from 1996 to 2005. Boyle flew from his New York City home to Los Angeles to film the show. For this part, he was nominated for an Emmy seven times but never won.

In 2001, he played the prejudiced father of Billy Bob Thornton’s character in the film Monster’s Ball. He later played in films like The Adventures of Pluto Nash (2002), The Santa Clause 2 (2002), Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004), and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006), typically playing odd curmudgeons.
