Early life: - Andrew McCarthy is an American actor, TV director, and travel writer. His full name is Andrew Thomas McCarthy. He was born in the year 1962, on November 29 and was the third of four boys, born in Westfield, New Jersey. His father dealt with stocks and finance, while his mother worked at a newspaper company. McCarthy attended Bernards High School and the Pingry School, a preparatory academy, in Bernardsville, New Jersey, when he was a youngster.He took admission at New York University taking ‘theatre’ as major at the age of 18,and he also attended New York's Circle in Square Theatre School. Acting Career:- McCarthy's first notable appearance was opposite Jacqueline Bisset in the 1983 comedy “Class”.

He became inadvertently a part of the "Brat Pack" a 1980s Hollywood gang of young performers abd that band had appeared in several films, including “St. Elmo's Fire” and “Pretty in Pink”. McCarthy starred films Mannequin and Less Than Zeroin the year 1987, which were based on Bret Easton Ellis' novel of the same name. He also starred in movies like Heaven Help Us, Kingdom Hospital, Fresh Horses, etc. ‘The Boys of Winter’ was his first Broadway(theatre) debut. E-Ring, a 2005 NBC television series, featured him in five episodes. In 2008,he got a minor role in the film,The Spiderwick Chronicles and appeared in the NBC television series Lipstick Jungle.

He has also directed approximately a hundred hours of different television series, among which,The Blacklist, Grace and Frankie, Orange is the New Black, etc. are some. Writing Career: - Andrew had a second career as a travel writer since the mid-2000s, and he served as an editor-at-large with National Geographic Travel magazine. McCarthy has been honored by the Society of American Travel Writers with multiple accolades, including “Travel Journalist of the Year” in 2010.
