Audio Assistant Rocks!!!
An audio assistant is also known as a sound assistant. They work in collaboration with sound operators and the sound engineer team to record sounds for film and TV shows. They help the sound director and producers to capture sound from scenes of a film or shot sequence. Mainly they work in both sound production and/ or post-production sound. While TV sound assistants help in sound production, in films they work on the post production aspect. They help in the editing and designing of sounds. They add sound effects and advise on what sounds are appropriate according to the script.
Sound assistants are also responsible for accurate placing of sound equipment, checking the sound and technical connections and operating sound systems. They work under the Sound Supervisor Head and follow orders from them. They must know the script well as they work second in command if the Sound Director is unavailable or busy shooting for other scenes.
