Plot

Balwinder Singh, an aspiring singer from Punjab, comes to Mumbai in search of success. However, he is not the only one. Another singer with the same name follows him. The confusion increases manifold when both singers fall in love with the same girl. Who will prevail?

Star Performances

Mika Singh may not be a bad actor, but he certainly chose the wrong film to make his debut. For a novice, he surprisingly acted well.

Apart from him, it is only Anupam Kher who tries to unsuccessfully salvage the film.

Analysis

A comedy of errors with two aspiring singers, who share a common name. Not bad for a comic plot. What could go wrong? Well, if the film is ‘Balwinder Singh Famous ho Gaya’, it could be everything!

Who even thought that making this film would be a great idea? The plot may not have been, but its execution by Sunil Agnihotri is one. The writers are clueless in many places. Forget making a rib-tickling comedy, they do not even know how to make this watchable.

One would like to know what made Mika and Shaan sign this abomination of a project. It is not uncommon for singers to try their luck in acting. However, in the case of Shaan and Mika, they did not even try. Mika did give his best, but his efforts were wasted by a ludicrous screenplay.

Apart from Mika, on the acting front, only Anupam Kher at least tried to enact his role properly. The rest were either clueless or simply hamming their roles. It was sad to see even the likes of Rajpal Yadav and Vindu Dara Singh do soulless acting. For Gabriela’s acting, the less said, the better.

‘Balwinder Singh Famous ho Gaya’ may have been a simple, wacky comedy. However, the clueless direction by Sunil Agnihotri, followed by underwhelming performances from the rest of the cast made this a forgettable affair. Only Mika Singh and Anupam Kher tried to salvage this film in an individual capacity.
